summer of love (maquette)

summer of love (maquette - animation)

This maquette of a proposed installation at Volta/Basel models an 8 channel kinetic sound work. Each of the flower forms sits atop a loudspeaker, and, through a simple mechanism, responds dynamically to the vibrations of the loudspeaker membrane by turning. The eventual soundtrack will be a text piece, dicing up Gregory Corso's Bomb!, splitting not atoms, but words, into families of phonemes, and distributing them into the eight sculptural stations of the installation. As the flowers rotate, the sound is directed by the blossom, reflecting off the wall surfaces and creating a complex multi-dimensional audio space.
